Making a homemade bird feeder is not only a creative activity, it also gives families a chance to examine nature by watching the wild birds that choose to eat from it when it’s finished.

Here is a simple example of a bird feeder that even a toddler could help make:

Take the lid off an egg carton. Poke holes in all sides of it, tie string to the corners and fill it with bird seed. Then find a place to hang it outside.

A bagel can also be used to make a bird treat to hong outdoors. You cover it with honey, roll it with bird seeds, tie it with the string and hand it outside the branch of the tree.

Additionally, there are other methods of making feeders with things like old toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, coffee cans, and even empty bottles. Really, with just a little imagination, you can make a birdfeeder from just about anything.
