Magic: The Gathering is a hugely popular trading card game, or TCG, which has been available for over 12 years now. It has grown in popularity over the past few years, and events are held all around the country in different locations. I would like to take a look at the various Careers which exist which will attract people who have an interest in Magic: The Gathering, as it is wonderful when people are able to get a New career which is directly linked to something that they like doing, in this case playing Magic. This will aid anyone looking for New careers which are directly linked to the Magic: The Gathering card game, so they can make sure they have a fitting job that they can flourish in.
Now there are many different Careers you can enter into which are linked to this particular card game. One of the more obvious jobs to me would be a seller, selling the cards in big packs, or splitting them up and selling individual cards. Now for anyone who knows the game rather well, you can earn good money doing this, as several cards are quite valuable. For mainstream games and present expansions normally cards will cost in the region of about 1 or 2 pounds, but some can go as high as 20. In fact, although you are likely to never, ever see one of these cards, there are some pretty old cards from the initial expansion, which are incredibly expensive – one of the most expensive cards known as ‘Black Lotus’ can sell for upwards of £600 on ebay. That’s a huge amount of money for a little bit of card! While you are never likely going to see figures like that, there is still decent money to be made if you understand which cards are popular, which are rare, and information like that. So generally a good understanding of the game and its mechanics will help you out here.
Another New career which the more creative among you will be able to consider is to be an artist for Magic: The Gathering. Now there is a great deal of tough competition here as there so often is when it comes to art, so you will need to be really good. Expansions are released every two years, and each set will have over 500 cards, each of which will have their own individual artwork. A lot of artists are commissioned to paint or draw just for magic, so if you are lucky enough to get into this line of work you will benefit from a fairly regular income.
There are a variety of different New careers here – more than we can properly list in one go. Other examples include getting a career out of winning, by participating in events which are held across the world. You may even look to be an author, and write books which talk about the universe that the card game is based in. There are lots of interesting Careers you can get into if you really put your mind to it, and you have the focus and enthusiasm to accomplish something.
